As a model who is professionally active worldwide, I have encountered countless high-end brands, cultures, and culinary arts.

Yet, the more experience I gain, the more profoundly I recognize the unique, high value of the Japanese aesthetic. My conviction regarding this value has deepened through my work on television, which has allowed me to visit the very sites where traditional crafts are made.

The exceptional items highlighted in the JAPAN SUI COLLECTION are sourced from throughout the Japanese archipelago, and each possesses a quiet, deep appeal that sets it apart from the luxury goods of other nations.

The gifts of food that capitalize on the bounty of our seasons and the Kogei (traditional crafts) that embody the mastery of inherited techniques––these items hold an essential richness that is never swayed by passing trends.

The products selected for this project are far more than mere luxuries. They are the culture itself, infused with the spirit of Japan's land and people and thus deserving of preservation for the future.

I sincerely hope that through this JAPAN SUI COLLECTION initiative, people worldwide will experience the true worth of Japan—a worth I only fully realized after traveling abroad—and share in its value.

PROFILE

A supermodel with a truly unique career as a Japanese national in the fashion industry. At the age of 17, she made her debut at the New York Collection and instantly garnered international attention. Since then, she has worked primarily in Japan and Europe as a global top model. Beyond modeling, she is energetically expanding her field of work to encompass various roles, including television and radio personality and actress. April 2024 saw the premiere of her program Ai Tominaga's Tradition to Future (BS Nippon Corporation), which explores settings that reflect Japan's traditional culture.
